In the Soundscape

Completing the lineup, Lawrence adds his style of melo-rock on the rhythm guitar. While more accustomed to melodic rhythm pieces, he is currently picking up a bit of lead guitar to become a more complete guitarist.

From soft acoustic progressions to searing choruses, the guitar complements the overall sound of the band. Musical influences include Oasis, Radiohead, Suede and the whole British music generation. His song writing talent is one of the major contributing factors to our originals.

A voice of his own

Frontman of the 5 piece band, Leroy draws his musical inspiration from the likes of Adam lavigne of maroon 5, multi-talented country singer Jason Mraz and contemporary Jazz singer Jamie Cullum. He co-writes the songs for Smash-Inc with guitarist Lawrence and have since penned songs like ‘Live it up’ and ‘Shinin on Me’. His motivation has always been to entertain and swoon audiences off their feet with creative interpretations of covers, when not doing smash-originals.

Improvisation at fingertips

Our very own keyboard maestro all the way from Jakarta, Indonesia. Classically trained since a tender age of 5 but was too lazy to continue at age 12. Started learning keyboards from his talented cousin who can play all kinds of music and instruments. Somehow, he inherited some sort of improvisation ability by observing his cousin's flying fingers on the keyboards, whose band was in the final 15 of the Jakarta Asian Beat Competition in Indonesia.

HE started playing bass when he was in JC. RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS is his fav band and Flea is one fantastic player that he aspire to be. Recently began to fall in love wtih the groove of No Doubt as well.

His current assets include a real curvy 4 string IBANEZ edgodyne series bass, a bass compressor and a distortion pedal.

What started out as a hall band to perform for school events and simple covers back in Aug 05 quickly gave way to a band who felt a pressing desire to pen down our lyrical ideas and melodies buzzing around in our heads. Though our influences are contrasting as night and day, we strive to create music that is friendly to non musicians and musicians alike - not alienating anyone just because he/she doesnt know music.

We dont write songs with the aim to be famous or rich one day, but we'll be contented if the songs are appreciated some way or other. Along the way, we have seen a couple of changes in lineup and have experiences in writing songs for short films and drama productions. We are in the midst of writing songs, recording and are always open to gig opportunities, despite keeping busy schedules as undergrads of NTU.
